Student Story: Texas Rent Relief causes issues for landlords and tenants
Story by Jake Reynolds. SMU.
Gainesville landlord Kelli Perrin is battling a moral dilemma, one that many mom-and-pop landlords have faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I’m losing a few hundred dollars a month,” Perrin said.
Her tenant, 67-year-old Patricia Williamson, is four months behind on rent, has no family and no other place to call home.
“She’s older and has nowhere else to go,” Perrin said. “I don’t want to evict her.”
